TEHRAN – Iran is ready to consult with France about various foreign policy issues, especially those related to regional crises, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday as he received a copy of credentials of François Senemaud, the new French ambassador to Tehran.

Zarif also expressed hope that Iran-France agreements would be fully implemented.

The foreign minister was referring to the agreements that were signed during President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to Paris in January.

The visit took place after conclusion of a nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 group (the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany) in July 2015. The agreement went into effect in January.

For his part, Senemaud expressed satisfaction over implementation of the nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and said that France is determined to fulfill its commitments.

He also noted the relations between the two countries should be expanded, expressing hope that banking transactions between the two countries would be facilitated within the framework of the JCPOA and international norms by expanding economic relations.

The new envoy also highlighted the importance of consultations between Iran and France on regional issues.

On Monday, Zarif also received credentials of Octavino Alimudin, the new Indonesian ambassador to Tehran, and also new ambassador of Iceland Hermann Orn Ingolfsson.
